StormBit situation.

StormBit as a news site
A few dedicated StormBit members are posting news articles on the site earlier than bigger sites such as GBATemp and DS-Scene. This is beneficial to the site in several ways, firstly the reliability of the posted news is increasing, and secondly it provides a new/rich amount of content input into the site. These benefits may prove to be increasingly vital in the site’s success, as rich content and reliability are both factors that attract visitors, and thereby will hopefully increase the sites activity.

StormBit as a community
As I have already mentioned, there are several members who are contributing news, after members have contributed a significant amount to the site (donations, staffing IRC channel etc..) I hand them “VIP” rights, which gives permissions including front page posting. The general implication of this position, is that the member will continue to promote StormBit (even if just inputting content).
As far as the rest of the community goes, the site has not been as much of a success as anticipated, so increasingly drastic measures may need to be taken for its further promotion and growth.
There is massive potential for affiliation, and sponsorship, and I hope to make deals with other sites in the future. Currently I am negotiating with the owner of http://gaminghax.com (he also controls other sites), and have already established a link with http://sovietchannel.su/

StormBit in general
StormBit‘s unique Web2.0 name admittedly doesn’t suit its role amazingly well, however as it IS a Web2.0 name, it can be optimised as a ‘brand’ and with its current content, the name’s meaning will change over time.
The site itself is hosted on a dedicated server, services provided by http://hax.tor.hu/ , and is running SMF1.1 with customisation.

Where StormBit should proceed – there is a storm on the horizon
Well, at this moment there are several directions that StormBit could proceed. I could optimize news posting, and focus the site onto a specific area of the tech market, I could expand the community and attempt to attract a wider posting community, or I could just leave the site in its current state with SEO tactics to increase the audience.

At this point, I’d like to thank XtraWicked and mercluke for all they have helped me with.

Over a month since I updated this blog…
Well I’ll keep this brief:
1) Ordered a QNAP TS 110 and going to order a pair of creative fatal1ty pro’s
2) Now that school’s broken up for easter holidays, I’ve got a few projects that I’m going to pick up.
3) I might have assorted private tracker invites, contact me if you are interested
4) StormBit.net forums opened (shameless self promotion plug, I know)
5) plox.tor.hu has returned from the mist, and I’ve progressed to level 26 of haxtor out of sheer boredom. Gonna attempt the next level when I get round to it.
6) People who can’t spell or practice basic grammar should never be let near computers, the shit they write makes no sense whatsoever.

Basicly a bunch of skiddie clanfags (ic stands for icheat btw) decided to spam their shitty clan, so by accident this happened…

Been really busy with stuff, but one thing I can say is; Shits going down.

So uh, Apple announced their tablet a few days ago. Both the conference and propeganda (watched both live) sucked balls.
And the name, iPad? it’s obviously just a bigger iPod with minimalistic changes.
Don’t see a real reason to get one.

Also Lockerz redemption today. Shitty ass items, and an average stock of 5 items by the look of it. Everything sold out within 7 mins.

Excuse briefness of this post, and recent lack of posts, I’ve been very lazy recently.

A new decade is upon us, yay for 2010.
I’ve mainly been playing SteamGames (after all. I now own Killing Floor, Evil Genius, Shattered Horizon, Oddworld Pack, Defense Alliance 2 and some sniper game). Torchlight is a fun game, nice dungeon crawler, but it gets repetitive and feels a lot like Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass, I wouldn’t recomend buying. Audiosurf is also fun, but the audio decoder doesn’t work properly etc… definitely wouldn’t recomend buying this.

As for other stuff, I’ve decided I need a NAS, and the QNAP NMP-1000 is perfect (media, direct connections, wifi b/g/n, webserver, torrent client, low power usage). I have also updated my PC Specification: antoligy.com/1.txt
